Type of a scam Employment
I now have additional information, and I understand that this will be a new complaint not against Appen however against the person that contacted me claiming to be an Appen employee.
That person gave the name Kerri Reynolds with the address 3939 N. Drinkwater BLVD; Scottsdale, AZ, 85251.
This person informed me that I would need to allow 2 iPhones to be placed onto my Verizon account and that Appen would then pay for the phones. I ordered the phones, upon receiving them I was instructed to send them to an Appen Client that would add their propitiatory software and return them to me.
I sent the two phones on 11/09/2021 to: Amir Flair Inter-Biz, 911 Eldridge Rd, Sugarland, TX 77478 viz Fed Ex tracking #1ZA877200360063404. As of yet the phones have not been returned. I did receive a text from someone claiming to work for Afrozon stating that the phones had been received and would be returned on November 22, 2021.
The phone have been reported as stolen to Verizon's fraud department, however I am still obligated to pay for them as I did authorize the purchase. Yes I now realize that was a foolish decision, I have never had a work from home position so I was not famaliar with the process.
The IMEI numbers on the two stolen phones are:
351194966296325 assigned # 409-300-5624 by Verizon
353075114053122 assigned # 409-460-8425 by Verizon
The person claiming to be Kerri Reynolds now refuses any contact from me. It's pretty obvious this is not a legitimate business. SO far I am out over $3000 because of this. Yes of course I would like to be reimbursed but I realize that may not happen, however I at least want to make sure no one else gets scammed by this company.
