"owner" (Doreese Coles at [email protected]), who worked with me on a price and then sent me a rental application and lease agreement. "She" sent me her bank information for payment purposes, and the option to pay using PayPal using her "son-in-law's" account ([email protected]). I sent payment of $1500.00 and she verified receipt by email. Then I noticed the lack of contact information on the lease agreement. I looked up the property online, and found out the owner of that address was a property management company (*** ***). I contacted them. They verified that the pictures in the ad did not match their property at that address, and that they had no condo owner by that name. I emailed "Doreese" with my concerns, and asked for verification of ownership and contact information both for her and the person who would be checking us in and out of the condo in Fairbanks. She replied that there was a mix-up, and that she would get back to me with the requested information when she got back home the following weekend. I immediately reported the scam to Craigslist, PayPal, and BB&T (the bank payment option). I also sent an email to the account my payment went to
([email protected]) asking for my money back because it was a scam. I never heard back from either email again.
