I saw a used camper for sale on the marketplace on Facebook. We took a 2 hour ride because we happened to be in NO at a VA doctor's appt. We met with "Kevin" who not the owner of the camper but told us he did this for lots of people. He detailed the camper, checked it out ,made sure everything was working, gave it a good cleaning. He didn't tell us the owner's name just said he would tell them we were interested. I asked him what was the next step if we wanted to buy it. he told the owners wanted 13500 which i knew from the add. Then he said when would be coming to get the trailer & I told him I needed a couple of days to get the funds together. He said he didn't know how long they would wait so maybe i should put a deposit. I wanted the trailer so i wrote a check for $500. He gave me a generic invoice with his information stamped on top. He wrote the info by hand as goes" 1 camper sale 13500 1ck#363 500 deposit on camper bal13000 and I signed very informal i would say" Of course "kevin" said to write out to him.

This was on a Friday. On Tuesday while finalizing my loan, my husband's VA doctor from the previous Friday's test calls us to tell us his cancer is back & he may need surgery or chemo & radiation, we need to meet on Wednesday. Needless to say we decide to wait on the camper not know what life is going to be like. So I call " Kevin" thinking i could get my money back because there was NO contract .

NOTHING LEGAL! Even big companies give you the deposit back if you can't buy the camper.

I don't know if this is a scam I just want people to be aware of this character & get it in writing about the deposit .
