Experienced the Same Thing

I applied for a remote video editing position and received an email that seemed to be from a legitimate address, and gave a .pdf of a briefing for the job. I'd never used a text interview, so it seemed a little wary to me, but I was excited for the opportunity so I continued.
The "secure PPTP encrypted text chat" was on an application called Wire and I began to become concerned when the interviewer was taking a long time to respond to my messages. I was getting worried as the interview continued, particularly with the grammatical errors, misspellings, and run on sentences, but a lot with how everything seemed very copy-pasted. When they asked for reference information "immediately" and that I needed to provide names and addresses and phone numbers within the next fours, I tried asking more questions to see if I could discern the authenticity. I got "Once you are employed you will be given further notice to that. We have come to the end of the questionnaire, your answers are being forwarded to the HR desk for review" each time.

I recently applied and interviewed for the remote video editor position at this company. I applied through LinkedIn and within 24 hours, received an e-mail to set up an interview. I was supplied all of the information about the company and job in a PDF as well as how to schedule my interview using a secure messenger application called "Wire." After a brief conversation with "Joseph Watson" last night to set up my interview, I immediately worried about the authenticity of the e-mail exchanges and job postings. He did not specify a time zone for the interview, nor did he introduced himself. I had to ask for clarification on those details.

The interview was scheduled at 9AM PST, and took place using "secure PPTP encrypted text chat" as he stated. I addressed that I was unfamiliar with this style of interview as I was expecting to video conference with a hiring manager. After many grammatical errors in his texts, as well as vanishing between chats for 10-15 minutes, I knew something was not right. When I asked for more information, it seemed I was getting general copy and paste automatic responses. He eventually stopped responding. They claim they will supply you with a company computer, phone, etc but you have to pay for it and they will "reimburse you."
