Type of a scam Online Purchase
Through the cooperation of one of the individuals, we found out that someone registered a domain name very similar to our domain name and started to post jobs on Indeed.com.
They've lured people with a link to an "interview", which is essentially a survey where people have to fill out their personal information and answer some dummy interview questions.
Afterwards, the bad actors would send a PDF document that looks like an employment offer which they would require the individual to sign.
This is as far as the individual went before contacting our office. We assume the next steps would have been banking information and/or SIN card number from the individual.
In our internal investigation, we found that the fake domain name, keystoneenvironmental.co was registered on Feb 13th, 2023. They have created an email address with that domain name called [email protected]. They have also cloned our website. We can tell that it was an older version because we’ve updated our website since then.
