The scammer called stating he was from so and so court house and that I had missed jury duty and was in contempt with the court. He made sure to state that the call was being recorded and anything I said could be used in court against me. He checked if the address he had was right when I said I hadn't received any jury duty summons. Address information is easily available online. He stated that he could see that my criminal history was clean and that he could help prevent me from getting anything on my record. He then wanted me to come down to the court house immediately to sort the warrant out. Warning bells were ringing from the moment I heard why he was calling but even more when he said I needed to come down to the court house, on a Saturday evening. Court is closed on the weekends. I immediately called his BS and said I wouldn't be doing that and was calling the authorities. He said that he was only trying to help me and that he could have a police squad at my address to arrest me. I called his bluff. At this point I just decided to hang up. I then received a text with quite rude language referencing myself and my Mom and then they proceeded to try to call back. I then just blocked the number. Another strange thing was that he heard my mom in the background and asked who she was and when I said that it wasn't his concern, he stated he only thought I would want to have someone come down to the courthouse with me. At one point the call disconnected so I knew immediately it most likely was made through a mobile device. The number which he stated as being for the Sheriff's Department is most definitely not as I googled it immediately while on the phone with said individual. All very strange. I luckily other than verifying my address did not give out any other information.
