They are scammers do not fall for it as I did.
They play with your emotions.
They are currently being involved in federal crime and soon they will be arrested. The government has all the information of these students and will soon bring them all to justice. The government has already identified all involved in this scam and just waiting for a federal warrant to be issued.

Yikes. We were really careful about purchasing a pup online and then getting her shipped to us, so we asked a lot of questions. The website seemed pretty thorough. The testimonials though had no proof of being legit. There were way too many typos on the website for me to be convinced.

Here's how it went: my boyfriend filled out the contact sheet on the website stating which pup we were interested in. The owner emailed him with some really basic questions ("are u a pet lover," for example). My boyfriend replied with answers, and the seller emailed back with shipping and payment questions. We called him and he did pick up. We asked him to send us pictures and he did. We did a reverse image search, and the photos didn't show up anywhere besides his website. We asked to send a video as more proof that we weren't being scammed and he sent a short 2-second looping video of the dog walking on a short wall. He was really selling this to us. We were so close to buying.

What stopped us was the payment. He was asking for $600 (plus flat $150 fee for shipping) to be transferred to him via Zelle or other wire transfer apps. (Fun fact: Zelle says on their website to not use it to send money to strangers!) We requested we send the money via Paypal in order to get purchase protection. He said he could do Paypal Friends and Family (the version of Paypal meant only for friends and family, so it offers no purchase protection). He also said he would accept $350 up front and the other half once we had the pup. We said we couldn't buy unless we knew we were being protected. Then he said we sounded like fraudulent buyers.

Restating some important red flags:

-It's suspicious if they don't ask many questions about where the dog is going ("are u a pet lover" seemed so nonchalant for a breeder to ask).

-It's suspicious if they don't have a phone number on their website/ad and you have to rely on filling out a contact form.

-It's suspicious if they are against you trying to protect your money.

Do your research, friends! Good luck in your puppy search!

I'll admit it, I was stupid but I would be a first time owner of a puppy therefore, I was very excited to look for my perfect four-legged buddy. I wanted to adopt initially but the adoption place was emptied out due to COVID-19 shelter in place rule. So I went Google searching for places that sell puppies. Found this website that seems legit at first with all its testimony. At first, I noticed a small misspelled word on their about page but I disregard it because it's "family-owned". I was too excited to look at all the cute puppies to actually do any real research and ignored all the red flags. I put in my inquiries for a pup and they contacted me by email at first. Then after a survey of questions, they contacted directly by messaging my cell number I provided. They start to ask for payment through Zelle which I transferred over. Then they said they are going to ship him via air. I did ask a lot of questions regarding how comfortable the puppy would be flying by itself. I went on google to search on this matter because if I could travel, I would offer to fly over and fly back with my new puppy. I came crossed an article that responsible breeders would not prefer to ship their puppy out and as I dug deeper, bam! All the puppy scams articles came out. I started backtracking and noticed a lot of red flags I missed because my head was in the cloud over the thoughts of having a puppy to love. I tried reversed searching the images online but it only showed on their page which still gave me some hope. I immediately asked the person to take photo updates of my puppy and he obliged. In one of the many photos that he sends, there was one with someone tagging their name in almost same color font as the cement. Luckily, I was able to see what it was, and search for the handle on Instagram. My heart dropped as I saw that those were the photos from this person Instagram page. Lesson learned, don't be stupid like me, letting my emotions take the best of me.

SOME RED FLAGS THAT CAN'T BE IGNORE!

1. Website did not contain any address or phone number right off the bat

2. If the person contact you by phone, call them and talk to them! Better yet, Facetime if you know both are Iphone Users.

3. Asked to see the puppy through video.

It really breaks my heart because I was mentally preparing myself to take care of the wonderful new pup that's going to be in my life and not at all preparing myself for a possible scam.
