I purchased a chocolate lab puppy from a supposed breeder in Atlanta, GA on Sunday. The puppy was supposedly dropped off at “the agency” at around 8:30 Monday morning, and shortly thereafter I received text messages followed by an email from the shipping “agency” with a tracking number and said I needed to pay $1200 to rent an electronic kennel, and I would be reimbursed once the puppy arrived. It was first suggested to use Google pay. When that transaction failed, I was then told to pay via cash app, zelle payment or bitcoin. Bitcoin led to Changelly.com, which did not work. I was then told to go to Walmart and purchase a MyVanilla prepaid card. At this point, I am being warned my puppy’s flight is about to leave, and she will be delayed if payment fails. Thankfully, the MyVanilla cards would not allow the shipper to access the funds. I questioned whether my puppy would be sent, and I was assured she would still be delivered. By 5:00, I was told she would arrive by 2:00am. At around 10:30pm, I received a request from the breeder to pay the $1200 via google pay since the MyVanilla cards did not work. This option has been suggested in the morning, but it wouldn’t work. Last night, it did work. However, 2:00am came and went, and no puppy came. I texted the breeder and shipper, and was assured my puppy would be put on an early morning flight since the google pay worked. I got a few hours of sleep and checked back in at 6:00am and was told “the agency” does not open until 9am & that my puppy would catch the “first flight” out of Atlanta at 11:00am. At around 7:00am, both the breeder and shipper assured me “not to worry” that my puppy would be delivered to my house today. Communication at that point dropped. I have not heard from the breeder since. I tried calling the 2 different numbers listed for the shipper; I said the number was disconnected, and the other allowed me to leave a message. At 10:45, the shipper changed the tracking status from pending in crate to pending on insurance and tried to get me to pay another $1500 Via text and email. I refused to pay more and have not heard from the person since.
