Two men knocked on my mother's door and asked to clean her floor. She allowed them inside, one guy went back to the car. They cleaned a couch, and talked her into buying a Kirby Vacuum for $1409 and had collected a check for half, with an agreement to finance the remainder at a high interest rate and monthly payment. She was alone at the time with my two year old son. I got to her home as the men were leaving, convinced my mom it was a scam as the men did not present business cards and the only paperwork they had was a pamphlet with their first names in the front cover and phone numbers. They had also gotten her social security number to run a credit check. So these men now now her ss number and know her bank information on the check. When we got the check back from them and they put the vacuum back in car, we discovered a third man in the back seat. So there were 3 men total, while one of them was in the house alone with my mom. I am unsure if they stayed in car or checked out her home, and property. Their names were Anthony Butler and Jay Jones, both of Columbia, SC. These men took advantage of a senior citizen who was home alone, and gave me fake stories when I telling me about their backgrounds.

A male “Kirby vacuum” salesmen and a young boy age 7, came to the door saying they were selling vacuums and we told them we weren’t interested in buying any. The kid did most of the talking, and saying he was in training to be a business man in a cute kid way. Then eventually after not accepting no, they were let into the home. All of a sudden the kid left and ran out to a van where “the supervisor” and other coworkers were. The sales pitch continued for almost an hour and 30 min. When we noted how long it was taking he kept saying he was the quickest rep, and that usually he doesn’t take over an hour whereas most take three hours. He asked to go into the bedroom and we said no and he kept insisting after being told no. He said he wouldn’t get paid if he didn’t have samples of skin cells and do the entire sales pitch. We compromised with giving him a pillow. Then when I asked how much was left he got defensive and rude and I said we had a phone call and he said you can’t do that while I’m cleaning? He kept saying just a little bit longer but never gave a precise time. Then was asking questions about how much we would pay and if it would be cash or card. I googled the company and it said they were closed in oshkosh which is where he said they came from. This all happened at 645-8pm. When I googled the company and saw similar reports filed so I called the police. He was packing up his belongings and asked for our address. We told him no to get picked up down the street. Then when police arrived we learned he did not have a solicitors permit. Police gave him a warning and then the guy said he had to wait for his supervisor to pick him up and the officer again told him to walk up the block. After leaving we saw a similar vehicle drive by twice.

Men in a large green van knocked on my door. I saw one walking somewhere on the side of my house. The man at my door said that they were with the Kirby vacuum company and were starting a new independent business with them here and asked if I wanted a demonstration. I didn't and they asked if I could schedule an appointment for a later time. I simply asked if their "new business" had a number I could call to get him to leave to which he responded no. This feels scammy to me because why would a business, even if new, not have any phone number to contact them.

An independent Kirby distributor came and demonstrated the vacuum got mine and my roommates personal information. The demonstrator Jeremy Davis informed us that our Kirby would be delivered the following morning as he didn't have any more in the van. Today is Tuesday March 23, 2016, he was here on March 19,2016. We still have not received our Kirby vacuum
