I was approached by this person on Facebook, and they said that they would like to use my photo for a painting and then sell it. I thought why not just humor myself and then call them out when I realized this is fake.
The short version is that they gave me this fake check to cash for supplies, and it did go through but then bounced back a few days later. I told them to send my money back but they still tried to ask for more and sent me another fake check from Citizens Bank. They used a woman's profile picture and name, it looked legit too. I can't remember the first name but I believe the last name was MacDonald. I think I tried sending it through Venmo first, but they realized it was a scam I was just too stupid to notice. Since the check went through which I was surprised it did I thought it was real but didn't realize that checks could get canceled. I finally got cash shop to send the payments and increments and they had a different nickname. I tried to work with cash app support but it was too late. I eventually decided to cut my losses and move past it, but I would hate for it to happen to someone else too. These events occurred in early October of last year.
