Called at work by man posing as a police officer, stated I missed jury duty, that I had been ordered by a judge to appear at the courthouse. He had my signature on a form saying I had been notified (he didn't). But I could come and fill out a statement saying I never received a letter and it would be ok. He gave me 20 min to finish up work and drive to the courthouse. I was to REMAIN ON THE PHONE because they needed to be sure I was coming and they could track me. But when I got in my car he told me about 2 fines of $493.55 each that I was required to pay at the courthouse. Would not let me off phone to get directions to my bank. Then I was told to take cash and purchase a MoneyPAK card "which stands for pay at kiosk" to swipe in a machine at the courthouse. I bought the first one, and was headed to another store to buy second, when he told me to stop and scratch off the number to verify the card UNDER MY DRIVERS LICENSE, so I could swipe it at the kiosk when I got to courthouse. I then went across the street to CVS to buy the second card. CVS had a scam warning on their credit card swipe machine that the employee made me read before purchasing. FINALLY started to suspect a scam. When I refused to give the "officer" the card info over the phone he made me speak with his supervisor who told me I was in "noncompliance" and could be detained. I refused and said I would need to pay in person at the courthouse. Continued questions and threats till I pulled into a State Patrol office and spoke to the clerk asking for help with a scam and the "officer" immediately hung up.
