Applied to a position via a professional listing, seemingly for Koch Industries. They sent me a $6,427.36 check in the mail to cover the cost of office supplies, from a different company itself (Symmetry Energy Solutions, LLC) with an envelope addressed from yet another company. I deposited the check and was told to use a instant cash transfer app, Venmo, to pay for equipment for this position. Come to find out, the check was returned unpaid and I was scammed out of nearly $4,960. The emails the scammers went by were [email protected] and [email protected]. Casey Cleland, Kathryn Barnes and Katie Gumfory, who told me to use Google chat for messaging for "training" and "purchasing office equipment from the supplier", were the aliases used by the scammer, people who actually work at the company. Attached is the screenshot of the Venmo account the money was transferred to. As of 6/4/2021, there hasn't been any communication despite my multiple attempts, while the [email protected] email returned an "address not found" response.
