Type of a scam Employment

-Vendor Management
They sent me an offer letter which I signed and was about to deposit the check when I found a thread on Reddit with the exact same model laptop. Someone was saying how they got scammed with a fake job and when they deposited the check they bought the materials and then had to send the remaining back that was not spent to the scammer and then never heard from them again, losing money. Before I did anything I called the HR department of Cronic and they immediately informed me this was a scam and they did not have any open positions that I mentioned. They told me I was not the first one to call that week about it. So sad.
They also asked these exact questions via email so if you see this - RED FLAG
