May 22 - I gave him my address, told him what I needed done and since it was my front and back yard, he was welcome to come anytime even if I was not home
May 24 - I received an email with a quote for $1000 this was to include everything (clear the weeds, dig out a couple of inches, put the black tarp down for weed control and place gravel on top of that
May 28 - I asked how long the project would take and what his availability was – No response
Had to have surgery, was unable to continue this project
Aug 3 - Emailed Ofa and asked if he was still available and if the quote was still good for $1000
Received email back-yes still able to do it
Aug 4- emailed Ofa and again asked for his availability
Received email he could do the weekend or if I prefer the week day
Emailed back either on is fine
Aug 5- received email asking how soon I wanted to start, offered the week after next
Emailed back I would like it done by the 23rd of Aug
Received email he could have it done by then will contact me next week to confirm date/time
Aug 13 - received email checking if we were still good for this week
Aug 14 - emailed back yes
Received email he will stop by to look at the measurements again, $1000 still good
Emailed back ok and I would like to do the planter box first and to let me know when he was coming so I could keep the dogs inside
Aug 22- Ofa was at my home, weeds were removed, he asked for a $500 deposit paid via Venmo I reminded Ofa that he said he would dig out the roots since what I was looking at was just the removal said he was still working on it. Ofa said job was more complicated than originally thought and said it would cost me an additional $300. Half the job was done, did not have a choice.
Aug 23- came home from work to find him laying the black tarp, I asked if he dug out the weeds he said yes
Aug 24 - came home from work to find him laying white rock when I asked for the same color (brown) that was originally there he said white was cheaper
Aug 25 - finished up
Sep 27 - Emailed Sent Ofa pictures of weeds coming up between the rocks asked when he could come back and remedy the issue
Oct 10 - texted more pictures, weeds higher reminded him I sent email on 9/27
Oct 25 - texted more pictures, knew he read last text, reminded him I paid an extra $300
Received text he was out of town and will come by to fix
Oct 30 - sent text and asked he come by 11/15 before the holidays
Oct 31- received text he will take a deep look into it
Nov 15- sent text to remind he committed to come today
Nov 17 - sent text to ask for a 75% refund of $975, did not come to fix and not responding noted all texts were read
No response
Scam started on August 22nd. Once he had the weeds removed, he was able to show that part of the work was done and if I wanted the other part done, I would pay the additional amount asked for. He has been unresponsive since showing him his work is incomplete since weeds are regrowing. It has been my experience, once a contractor starts a job, nobody will touch it. I had no choice but to pay the additional money to finish the work, but he did not do as he said by digging out the roots.
