I reached out to a seller on craigslist for a puppy for sale for $400. The seller emailed me pictures of the puppy and we discussed via text about the puppies but they could not let me see the dogs before paying a $100 deposit, which then became $200 for the included delivery fee since they are in 9 hours away. He texted me from phone number 915-209-5633 and said his name was Tommy. They could only accept payment via cashapp, and gave me two different cashapp handles ( his and his wife)for names that did not match their name- Sidney Small - $shah656 and Jose Barraza $waheed66. After the $200 was sent, he said he needed my name and address to register where the puppy would be delivered- he did not want me to use a public location. I got an email from Krysta Pet Express stating the delivery was registered and then a 2nd email from them saying it was on hold. They called me from 323-902-3466 and stated the delivery is on hold because I need to pay a mandatory but refundable pet insurance fee of $520, which they would email me to complete. The person on the phone did not speak very good english and I can tell they were not in the states. The email had typos so I looked up the website and found it is a copy of another similar site- PetExpress.com with the exception of a tracking page, where I "tracked" my delivery using the tracking number from the registration email (KPE018036254660US). It show my shipper was from a Tommy Schultz in El Paso, Tx +1 (915) 209-5633 [email protected] . When I asked Tommy about the legitimacy of the site, he claimed it was real. I asked him to show me the receipt for the delivery and he said they wouldn't give it to him until after the puppy was delivered to me. When I asked him for a recent picture of the puppy ( the pictures he sent originally were found on several post- but I did not think it was suspicious if he was really trying to sell them) he said he couldn't because he had already given the delivery company the puppy so we were are the point of no return. I asked him to send pictures on the mom/dad and again he send pictures of dogs found online in the UK. He refused to refund me because he said he already paid the delivery fee but if I gave him the remaining $200 now he would pay the insurance fee. I asked him for his paypal this time and he said we'd have to use his wife's ( who was either the owner of the cashapp account for Sidney or Jose) but her paypal email was [email protected]. He would not give me her name. SO I told him did not feel comfortable and to please refund me the deposit/delivery fee ($200). He said no.
