We have a paint job Dan came out and gave us a quote for on Wednesday, April 17. He said he could do the job for $1800, but he required 40% up front. We agreed the next day and set everything up for him to start on Monday, including a Venmo payment. Monday morning he was supposed to arrive at 9:30 am. Around 9 am, he texted saying he had been in a car accident and wouldn't make it. He said he would contact me later that day and should come out within a day or two. Didn't hear from him again that day. The next morning, I texted him and he didn't reply. Finally around midday, he replied with a long story and said he would come the next morning. We haven't heard from him since. He stopped replying to my texts. On Wednesday, we found a complaint on the website we found him on, saying he is a scammer. Too bad we didn't see that before. We filed a claim with Venmo to get our money back.
