The caller said she was from the disconnect unit of Kentucky Utilities and that a disconnection of service would occur in 20 minutes. She was very angry sounding as if she wanted to create alarm in me that a cutoff was imminent. I knew our account was paid by automatic deduction from our bank account, so I asked her how much was past due. She said she didn't have that info (that's pretty weird). She couldn't tell me when our last payment had been made or anything. She said if I wanted to ask those questions I'd have to call the billing department. So she gave me a number to call (877-265-8543) and when I did it sounded just like the phone answering service at Kentucky Utilities. When I pressed "2" for "Billing" it led me right to her - I recognized her voice. I did not talk with her again.

This is a bad scam to take advantage of people already on edge. :-(
