[email protected] Reports & Reviews (1)

- Austin, TX, USA • Nov 24, 2024

On 10/21/24 I was defrauded victimized online by a fake email claiming that my Norton subscription had been renewed and I would be charged $332 for renewal. I replied to the email that I wanted to cancel the subscription and that began a series emails with a male person at [email protected]. (I have since deleted the email but have a screenshot of it). He said that the only way to reverse the charge was to log in to my bank account (***** *****) and he would help me to process the refund remotely. He asked for my phone number so he could walk me through it. So I did and my computer screen turned blue with big letters that said "Processing payment. Please do not turn off your computer". I said what is happening? and he said it takes about 5 minutes. After a minute or two I felt something was wrong and I told him "I think this is fraud. I am heading to my bank" and I hung up and jumped in my car. Luckily a banker was available who was able to "reverse" the transfer. We have since received new bank account numbers and changed our passwords with the bank. Then on 10/23/24, I received another email from an [email protected] (I have a screenshot of this also). That email claimed that my Life Lock subscription was expiring. I did not reply to this one and it has been deleted also.
