I have been job searching since 9/2024, lost my job. Have applied to multiple positions locally and remotely. When i received an email from Justin Braxton ([email protected]) regarding a possible available position with "remarkable qualifications and professional background." I would just need to fillout a quick questionnaire. At this point i reviewed all my previous applications but could not find one for Langdon. I had done other questionnaires similar to this regarding my skills and background so filling this out was not too much trouble. I received a confirmation regarding my submitted questionnaire the following day. 6-7 days later i received via email a formal offer in detail with a proposed pay rate and should i accept, a reply with my full name, home address and phone number. I was totally excited to finally have a job so i replied with the requested info. A few minutes later i received an email from Jackson Wesley ([email protected]) regarding further details regarding equipment and specifics as to what ill be receiving. Again this was very detailed and formal. This is where i really started to question the whole thing: they told me they would need to send me a check to purchase the equipment. I received via email what looked like a digital check from "Vision Bank" made out to myself for exactly $9997.00. He instructed i attempt to deposit it via my Banks application and to forward confirmation once this was completed so he could send me the "approved vendor list". I immediately began consulting the internet to possible scams from this organization or similar scenarios. Unfortunately for me this is an ongoing issue with potential tech applicants like myself. It goes like this: scammer gives you instructions to deposit a check into a personal bank account and wire some of the money to someone else. But once you do, the money is gone and the so-called “employer” disappears. Thankfully i did not go this far to deposit the check but i sure did learn a lesson and definately got a bruised ego.
