Type of a scam Home Improvement
I moved out ALL of my furnishings to storage except my guest room and guest bathroom that wasn't included in the contract for any work to be done.
I rented an apartment for 2 months and was at my condo every day to see what was being done. I took many pictures.
My Kitchen was gutted for new IKEA cabinets, a large 6'X7' island with sink, a wood ceiling and fan, new vinyl flooring, painting of the kitchen, living room, Master bedroom and a complete renovation of the Master bathroom: tile floor, new vanity with sink & faucet, new tiled shower with fixtures and waterproof walls (Venitian plaster) throughout the bathroom. The A/C handler was moved to the upstairs attack to make room in the kitchen for the tall cabinet wall.
I moved back into my home on April 1, 2021, to find 2 ladies (Larry's wife & assistant) in the guest bathroom reorganizing my medicine cabinets -??? Also, Larry's tools and gallon paint cans were being stored in the Guest room shower stall. The wall in the shower stall had been broken thru with all the tools and paint cans - damaged enough so it could not be used without water leaking to the condo unit below me. Larry patched it with tile mud. How horrible to see a "patch" of black mud in my guest bathroom shower stall where he shouldn't have been at all!
Larry gave me an Insurance Certificate of Liability - it was NOT for the dates the work crews were in my home...it was NO GOOD!
I was paying Larry as agreed in the contract - in CASH. Also, he pulled NO PERMIT. When the total of the contract was reached, Larry started asking me for more money to pay his subcontractors. I did pay him so the workers weren't working for nothing. Larry kept pleading to me for more money to give to his workers - in CASH. The cabinet company (Ed Jones & Kory:never showed up again....that's a different complaint.
I ultimately paid $12,000 over our agreed contract price. On July 8th, Larry left my condo and never came back without a word.
I emailed a Punch List, texted the Punch List and called. He finally blocked my texts on August 23rd.
In August, I couldn't get any of the contractors to respond to my emails, texts or calls. My home is unfinished! My Kitchen cabinets are NOT fully installed, the cabinet panels and handles are NOT on my refrigerator or cabinets - I was left with yellow duck tape as "pulls" to open my cabinets! The wood ceiling isn't finished, all electrical outlets and switches are exposed with NO plates, the plumbing in the Master Bathroom shower isn't working correctly, the refrigerator water line isn't hooked up, the induction cooktop isn't installed and my Guest bathroom shower is inoperable!
On the NEXTDOOR app, Larry Lacroix's daughter, Maggie, recommends him highly and believes he is licensed. BEWARE!
Larry Lacroix doesn't want to pull permits and wants to be paid in CASH! He is not licensed - he is insured - get a recent Certificate of Liability if you choose to work with him - I would NOT recommend him to ANYONE! He is a true scammer.
