A brief phone interview was conducted and request for photo ID to expedite the 'background check' process which I regrettably sent an image of my Texas DL. I asked about giving notice as they kept up a sense of urgency on the Dept. launch and move timeline since I was 'hired' but the person indicated that I should wait in case 'it wasn't good fit after meeting Dr. Wang" (red flag). My suspicions were raised even more when I couldn't find information on this supposedly Nationally renowned Professor on Google and the HR Manager's information wasn't on the Tarleton Univ. webpages. I researched the www.tarletoneducation.com domain name it was obtained 1 day before posting the Indeed.com ad. Now realizing I had been scammed, I reported the fraud attempt using the Univ. name to Tarleton Univ. and reported the fake ad to Indeed.com. I saved all info in case a police report needed to be filed and froze my credit immediately in case identity theft/forgery attempts were made. A day or so later, a confirmation email was received with tracking number for the promised expense check of $500 however a check arrived for $2695 from CA via overnight FedEX with an entirely different company on the check (huge red flag) and the return address was different as well on the envelope. It listed Eric Sedenglanz 26767 Sand Canyon Rd. Canyon Country, CA 91387.
Only one additional email attempt was made to contact me regarding receiving the check and I didn't respond. I imagine once deposited, they'd have banking information and of course the signature/photo ID information as well. The website is now disabled.
