Type of a scam Employment
The next day, I got a text from the scammer telling me to call Kim back at that number so we could talk about the position. I called and we talked about the position. She said she would love for me to come in for an in person interview in Dallas and asked if I can email her a copy of my Bar card and driver license. After I got off the phone with her, she texted me an email address [email protected]. I thought that was also weird. Most law firms have professional emails i.e. @nameofthelawfirm.com.
I decided to not send a copy of my Bar and driver license and decided to sought opinions from my friends whether the posting was legitimate. One said, the reason why the posting was just "Law Office" is perhaps an employer is planning to fire someone and don't want that employee to see employer already hiring. The other notice the posting was full of spelling and capitalizing errors, and suggest I asked the scammer what's the name of the law firm so I can Google them. So I texted the scammer, and scammer wrote back, the law firm was "Anh and Associates." I Googled the name and email I was given. No such law firms came up.
But a restaurant that offer franchise opportunity came up. So I decided to ignore the scammer and not email my stuff. Earlier this week, I then received another text from the scammer telling me to call the same as before and email them at [email protected]. Again, I Googled the email I was given and no such law firms came up. But a sign company came up. I don't know whether the restaurant and sign company is collaborating with the scammer, or their emails have been compromise. But it's clear that the scammer is not a law firm hiring lawyers. While I haven't send the scammer any personal information, I have a feeling the scammer will continue to harass me.
