Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
The scammer would send a check to cover decal installation and your first week’s advertising rent. You would fill out an online form and then wait 72 hours for a response. I received (2) USPS Priority Mail envelope with two checks in the amount of $1,998.00 each from two different senders, two different states and a poorly written xeroxed letter with additional information advising you on the next steps to take.
I was concerned about the items received as it did NOT look official and there were misspellings throughout the letter and the check.
I called Lay’s corporate and was advised that the carwrap program was a scam and had been reported by others.
I am writing this report because I don’t want anyone else to be taken advantage of. Most important takeaways- DON’T deposit a check!
If it looks too good to be true it likely is.
