I was contacted for a data entry job applied for through LinkedIn. I was alert that it might be a scam so I researched the company. They had initially sent me an email asking for name/address/phone. Later I was asked for the same information in addition to the name of my bank under the pretense of making sure my bank was compatible with their payroll system. I was told that Jake would be my supervisor and would be in contact and further advised me that I needed to purchase materials for the job in the amount of $20. I was directed to a link to Office Depot to order blank checks and that it was so that I could pay myself. Then Jake contacted me via text. During this entire process, I asked for a business license or industry licensing (they portray themselves as providing a platform for individual investor trading). I looked up their address as shown on their website and it was a residence. They would never offer the information I requested so I told them I was not interested. Jake still attempted to contact me via telephone which I did not answer.
