Type of a scam Employment
This scammer contacted me via email on 03/04/2024 at 11:10AM requesting confirmation of my interest in the employment opportunity.
On 03/04/2024 at 11:56 AM, I replied: "yes".
On 03/05/2024 at 10:45AM they sent another email with attachment called: "Screening Test / Interview Questions" forms.
I did complete the requested form which did not request personal information EXCEPT my name and work experience. The completed form was sent on 03/05/2024 at 1:09 PM.
On 03/06/2024 at 10:26 AM, an email was sent to me extending the employment offer and requesting name, address, phone number, email, job posting and bank name.
On 03/06/2024 at 1:36 PM, I replied with that information but did not provide bank account detail, just the bank name.
On 03/07/2024 at 7:16 AM, an email was set to me requesting a 1040 or W-2 and an ID, front and back, for verification. They also requested me to sign a "Media Conscent Form" and the Offer Letter. It was at this point I became concerned because I had not spoken nor met, via Teams or Zoom, any individuals representing the company.
On 03/07/2024 at 9:55 AM, I sent an email requesting a Teams or Zoom Meeting so that I have the opportunity to ask some questions and meet individuals before I could send any personal information.
On 03/07/2024 at 10:22 AM, an email was sent to me including the following verbiage:
"We understand the circumstances that surround the information requested. However, it is the safest protocol of any employer to know and be able to verify the identity of their employees also to prepare your form I-9, company ID card and
other necessary document. We assure you safety of your information, we're aware that your information are confidential.
After verification, we would take you through the next step of training and introduction to the team via zoom.
Thanks you."
It was at this point that I was more sure that this was a scam and then called the company (657-267-0059) and spoke to a gentleman who informed me that he works for LeafyPack but they are not hiring and have been receiving several reports of scam through Indeed.
