I applied for an online loan, giving my personal information.I got multiple calls harassing me to deposit an AARP life insurance check that was issued in my name and sent to my email! When I answered the phone and told them I refused to deposit said check into my account they began to threaten me and accuse me of fraudulent activity and claim they would need “to speak with the accounting department to determine if the check had been deposited.” I then reached out AARP’s fraud hotline as well as my bank to inform them of suspected fraud.
