A man with a South Asian accent called, gave his name & number, identifying himself as being with Lending Tree financial services and that they had approved me for a personal loan of $10,000 with terms of 8% interest & payments of $203.71 per month for 60 months. I called and spoke with a person who identified himself as Justin Cage. Eventually, he said the entire loan amount would be deposited into my checking account as soon as I paid for the wire transfer fee of $175. He wouldn’t accept a transfer from my bank or a CashApp transfer, either. He settled for a bitcoin payment. Then he said that an insurance premium payment would be required prior to the loan funds being deposited. Again he required bitcoin payment. Then he said the Good & Servive Department required a tax payment of $425 because it was an unsecured loan. The document he forwarded was an obvious falsification, containing many misspellings and unofficial from the “United State of America” - which is when I demanded a refund of my money and an end to this process. They responded with a nasty email accusing me of being “abnormal” and “please go to mental hospital and take a proper treatment.” I eventually said I wasn’t interested.
