The phone number 1-800-315-9999 shows up in the *INDIAN* version of the LG website (http://www.lg.com/in/support/contact/telephone), which can easily be mistaken as a US number if you landed in that page after Googling "LG Warranty"
The scammers registered the identical number in the US, and if you call that number, they will pretend to be LG Warranty Support. They'll first tell you that you won an $100 gift card for calling during a special period. They then pretend to take down your info for the warranty repair. Finally, they will ask for your credit card info to charge a $4.95 "service fee" before giving you a confirmation number. Of course, they are not really LG, and the whole scheme is to get your credit card info.
I got suspicious when they asked for the service fee because it's supposed to be a free repair and hung up. After looking more carefully at the website, I realized what had happened.
