My father just passed away and the scammer initially called my uncle and then my grandmother who then called me to speak with her. "Amy Taylor" (likely a fake name) mentioned my dad had a life insurance policy but a payment would be needed to process the claim. She said each of my brothers and our kids had an amount to receive but a fee was needed for each brother and a separate fee for each set of our kids. The amounts were sent via CashApp to process everything. She kept putting my grandmother and I on hold where the last hold was over 30 minutes. I had one of my brothers call the number. He said the person mentioned she was waiting on more money from me and hung up on him. My thought is that she viewed all names from the obituary and apparently called the funeral home first to get what contact info she could.
