I responded to a listing on Facebook for a 1965 Corvette for sale. The car was located at a classic car dealership in Hardin, Montana. I had been to Hardin and it was about 350 miles from my location. I talked to two guys who sounded the same. One guy was Travis and the other was Greg. They wanted me to send them money to hold the car or send half the money and they would ship the car to me and If I liked the car I could send them the rest of the money. I insisted in driving to their address the inspect the car. When I got there at the appointed time the building was locked and no one was there. A nearby business called the owner of the building and he (Bob) arrived and reported his building was full of his personal car collection and he did not have a 1965 Corvette for sale. I spent $160 in gas on this scam. All was not in vain as I am a historian and I went through the Custer Battlefield and the historic towns of Sheridan and Buffalo. There are a dozen scams like this on the Facebook and Craigslist.
