Because my husbands work had to be transferred to Atlanta I was introduced to Lisa Leathers over the phone as a realtor. She explained to me that she had properties that had recently been rented out but I would be able to rent directly from her within six months due to her husband and herself building a home. This conversation took place over the phone so we had not seen the home. We were asked to come out to see the home as well as others that she would show us because according to Mrs.Leathers she is a realtor and could get us in to see properties with the various rental companies in town through her realtor connections with realtor companies such as excalibur, Tara just to name a few so that we could rent a home until her home were to be available in six to nine months. We were asked to look into homes in an area we thought fit our criteria and we sent them.

My husband and I drove down to Atlanta and a few days later after two days of back and forth and no meet we received a phone call stating that Mrs.Leathers mother fell down the stairs and she needed to fly to Florida to check on her Mom, two days later we were told her grandmother passed away. My husband and I after spending money to work with Mrs.Leathers ended up working with someone as it all initially seemed like an honest stream of unfortunate circumstances when Mrs.Leathers called out of the blue to let me know that she has a home available for us and required a $250.00 hold fee. Because it was out the blue and we had not spoken with her I then explained we'd come up to see the home which we did days later and loved it and accepted the offer. An hour after leaving we were told there was a $500 hold fee. She explained that there would be no issues with the home and that it was ours. She later requested a fee for a credit check. Our credit was never ran. I believe we may have been possibly caught up in a scam that is still taking place. I would like to speak with someone if possible there is a lot more and I'm concerned and would like to know what I should do.
