My experience is similar to the other stories here. An email inquiry about a logo and brochure for a new furniture company, which seemed normal initially but progressively less professional. After my first email response I received a text message reply later in the evening, and it seemed like I could not get him on the phone for a discussion. He said he was in Delaware, sick, and would need to put a downpayment with his credit card and immediately asked for my merchant service, which we do not use and would not take without any kind of contract signed. I stopped all contact after finding these experiences.

I TOO AM A GRAPHIC DESIGNER. I ALSO RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM A RICHARD GREY ABOUT DESIGNING A LOGO AND CATALOG. HE SENT ME 3 EMAILS AND 1 TEXT. WITH EACH EXCHANGE THE DETAILS OF THE JOB AND THE LANGUAGE IN THE EMAILS SEEMED ODD AND LESS AND LESS PROFESSIONAL. I DECIDED TO SEARCH HIS NAME AND COMPANY AND FOUND THIS NOTICE OF QUESTIONABLE ACTIVITY. I STOPPED ALL CONTACT AT THIS POINT.

The same thing happened to me. A “Richard Grey” emailed me in pursuit of a logo and catalog designer. I drafted a contract, in which he signed, and awaited the initial deposit. Would not accept PayPal as a method of payment and asked for stripe instead. Then after receiving the stripe invoice, he informed me that he had lung cancer and needed me to use his credit card information to submit the payment to his colleague to receive the photos for the catalog. After finding this odd, I looked up his “company” and found this website with a similar story. The agreement was terminated.

I am a graphic designer who was contacted via text message about creating a logo and brochure for a new furniture company. The individual and I exchanged several text and email messages for what I believed was conducting business. When I asked for a downpayment on services before beginning work, the individual agreed, then asked for my credit card company and full name. I terminated business with the individual immediately.
