Type of a scam Online Purchase
Initial means of contact Social media (e.g., Facebook)
PayPal paid the invoice based on a delivery receipt through USPS. I never got the package, yes someone could have stolen it, but that is very unlikely. So I took what information I had and went to the local postmaster... Rather than retyping everything I'm just going to paste my last correspondence with PayPal next.
I am still concerned that there is a problem with this transaction far beyond a simply lost package
I contacted my local postmaster and they did a geo-tracking on the tracking number that the merchant supplied us and it was not addressed to me. A package with that tracking number was delivered to a Seneca Falls address but not mine, nor was it the computer laptop that I paid for.
Incidentally, the postmaster stated that numerous occurrences of the same nature have occurred this Holiday season, all involving PayPal, but with different vendors and never the same delivery address. So this seems to go beyond conclusion with a simple delivery receipt.
What can be done at this point? I plan on contacting the Postmaster and Attorney Generals for New York to see if they might help as the merchant is NY-based.
