I got a call from a currier service from a restricted number saying they were trying to serve me with legal documents for a civil litigation and I needed to contact the account holder by 5pm or a default judgement would be done as a result of non service. I called the number and they had all my information. They had dated information and a whole account number. This was from an account from 2009. So it was old enough that I we didn't even recall the account. We thought it was paid long ago. They said they had sent me several letters which we never received. She told me I needed to pay the balance or it would be a default judgement. We thought it was real because they had all my info. They read it all to me. They agreed to let us settle the assumed debt and sent us a settlement letter thru esign. We thought we were doing the right thing. We thought it was all taken care of until the next day when I called the same number to verify that it was all taken care of and the number was unavailable. We are out over $700.00. We are trying to work with our credit care company to get our money back.
