Type of a scam Phishing
This "scammer" was very knowledgeable about me; my name, address, and the procedures of the Sheriff's Department. After the scam, I believe the "scammer" may have been an ex-sheriff deputy. The beginning was the shock and then a continuous pressure to get the money to pay at the KIOSK at the Sheriff's Department. He kept me under continued stress so I wouldn't be arrested before I paid the "bail" which had to be by a Visa card bought at the local Walmart that is close to the Sheriff's Office in my small town.
He made me stay on the phone continuously as he "walked me through the process." As I was buying these Visa cards at Walmart, "Customer Service" said THIS IS A SCAM, took my cell phone and said "she" was a Sheriff and the "scammer" hung up. The Walmart customer service lady saved me from a $2,500 scam that was used to frighten me with arrest. THANK YOU WALMART.
I then went to the local Sheriff's Office and talked to a Deputy about the scammer saying that there was a warrant for my arrest. He looked up my file and said that I was compliant. We then talked about the scam, and said they could do nothing about this scam because it goes through so many different countries and people and also there are so many "scams" that it is impossible to track or stop them
The ScamPulse.com is the only way that I know (now) to warn others.
Please advise all who are targeted to look on the ScamPulse.com website "before" paying to these very convincing scammers.
