The listing on craigslist was vague, no company name. The job offer came right after the interview. I asked for a wage equivalent to what I make at the IRS, based on the fact that that is the only data entry experience I have. They offered me $3-$4 more than that. My contact on Hangouts was Mindy Sokolaski ([email protected]). Following the interview, the company sent me an offer letter. I was instructed to sign and date it and email it back with a copy of my driver's license. I did this and they sent me a $2,450 check the next day to be deposited into my checking account to be used by me to buy mini office software. They did not ask for my bank account information.
After pacing in front of the atm for a while, I went to the library, did some more research, and decided it was most likely a scam. I never deposited the check, but tore it up.
