Called carpet service. Was told on the phone the charge would be $80 to clean our 8 x 10 area rug, but if they needed to charge more that would be discussed before service started. I made the call but my husband was home when the service was being completed. He charged my husband $320 through Venmo! Unfortunately my husband paid, but as soon as I found out I called the business, I explained that no quote was given other than the $80 and that technician didn't give a receipt. I said the rug only cost $250 so why would I pay $320? I called several times during the week (service was done on 9/11.) Each time I called I would get the same information. "I can see you called multiple times and our manager will call you back." I kept calling and I was told the manager would call me back in 10 minutes. I was told this on 3 different calls I made. Then I was told there were 4 managers and one would get back to me asap. I asked one person who answered the phone if they had a store front...she hesitated and said no, I called back and spoke to a different person who said they did have a storefront. I finally had it went to the location of the business, The address exists but there is no suite in the business complex that is a carpet cleaning business, I called them right away and said they were using a fake address and I was hung up on. I called back and they kept hanging up. I would hope that's illegal to use an address for a business but there is no business at that address?

This is a scam business, we called the police department in our area and they referred us to the BBB.

It's really not about the money now...although I'm a teacher and I don't have money just to throw away.. it's about stopping this scam. I've never experienced this before. The carpet still smells like dog pee which is why we called them in the first place!

My husband will work on getting someone within Venmo to track the payment.
