Type of a scam Worthless Problem-solving Service Scam
I parked my vehicle in the Food 4 Less parking lot on Imperial and Studebaker along side of a few other cars when I walked out around 9:45pm with my family I noticed my car was missing but a tow truck was there the driver was a Hispanic male driver. it appeared looking back in hind sight almost as if he was waiting for me to come out. I along with a few of my family members asked where is my vehicle and why did he tow my vehicle. It was a bit of chaos with everone asking questions.. he said he took my vehicle because it was the easiest one to tow.. but, why did you tow it was my question.. What was the problem with it being there do you just randomly tow cars. he said his boss told him to do a sweep.. We asked him well who is your boss? I said for what food 4 less is still open. it wasn't clear to me why he took my car I attempted to get the info of the boss.. that info wasn't provided. he danced around answering any questions, however he allowed my brother to speak to somebody and he referred to him as his boss, (more than likely his partner). my brother proceeded to ask questions like how much would it be to get my vehicle back. while I'm listening I notice the information on the tow truck is Long Beach, it did not make since to me why Long Beach tow is in Norwalk. I'm asking at this point where is my car I'm feeling like he has nothing to do with food 4 less .. I am asking where is my car he tore of this piece of paper with the real tow info and wrote a different address of 1100 E Hill st and gave it o my brother, basically he just gave a bunk address which turned out to be a industrial lot not a tow lot. we googled it.. this doesn't look good looks like a scam.. mean while whoever is on the phone with my brother claiming to be the boss is saying to my brother we can get my car for $400 if he doesn't have to go open the yard in Long Beach otherwise it will be over $500 with fees, so the tow driver said he would do it but I need to pay $400.00 cash, meet him in Long Beach.
My brother's took me to a gas station where I withdrew the cash from the ATM we were about to head to long beach when the tow truck driver called one of my brothers saying he will meet us in 10 minutes. we gave him the address where to meet us and he showed up with my car, (what tow truck driver does this) so my car was not in Long Beach.. Long story short there was some resistance and questioning on our part we want to know why he essentially is stealing cars for ransom. our thought is to just get the car just give him the money I don't want him to take my vehicle and vandalize it or abandon it somewhere. we gave him $400.00 cash I now have my vehicle.
the next day December 15th I went to food 4 less to investigate a little more I speak to the manger sure enough the tow company they use is different says its the only tow company they use they are very professional and would take your car to a tow yard and not your house, he advised that I should report them to the ScamPulse.com (Better Business Bureau) of course it sounds like a scam to him as well.
I called the police to make a claim. I was also advised to contact the BBB.
the last thing I did was call Long Beach Tow and storage to verify if they tow cars way in Norwalk the guy who answered my call today December 17th advised they do not cover Norwalk or that area so they would never tow my car. final conformation this was a scam please be careful out there and be aware of your surroundings.
I'm so glad that he only got $400.00 with so much evil in the world what if I walked up alone instead of with all of my family he could have forced me in the tow truck to initially inflict harm rape or kill or maybe he really just wanted money which is all he got
