Basically to simplify everything, he offered/accepted job request to be customer service rep, got ahold of some personal information, and ultimately sent me a FAKE cashier check. Luckily after researching online, the best universal advice I got was to verify the check’s authenticity to avoid a “bounce” which was what the scammer ultimately wanted. To clarify I revealed the check’s falsehood via calling the credit union printed on the check. I might add that this cashier-check looked extremely genuine and if I hadn’t known better I’d have thought it was actually genuine, basically it looks like a genuine check but with (likely) fake account/routing numbers.
