Don himself has told me that he takes puppies from one litter and includes them in another litter just to get them AKC registered for sale. He has also informed me that he has "extra" health certificates for puppies. So they don't go to the vet. Recently he had a female and 8 puppies dies from coccidia. The poor mom laid at home for over 24 hrs while bleeding internally until he finally took her to a hospital just to have her die. 8out of 9 pups died with her. Him and his "wife" Fran are out for the almighty dollar only. Close him down

This Don person is a liar/ con-artist. I know for a fact that he does not even know any vets, much less have one for his dogs, or for the puppies.

The claim that he will give you a health certificate is simply bull[censored]. The claim that he will stand behind the puppies’ health for two years is more bull[censored].

He doesn’t know the first thing about dog-breeding. The website is lies, smoke, and mirrors. He has sick puppies because he’s in-breeding them. That and the fact that they’re not getting any veterinary care.

He thinks he knows it all, as you can see from his long, winded reply, and he pretends that he knows more than you do.

He also pretends he has an attorney, which he can’t afford to hire one. And no self-respecting attorney would represent someone like him.

I’m sorry if you made the mistake of buying a puppy from him. Don’t believe a word he says. He’s a long-winded blow-hard bully.

He mated the initial two females while they were puppies, before they were even one year old. The black one attacked and killed three of the brown one’s puppies. That shows that she’s maladjusted and should not be Bred, but he continues to breed both of them after every heat.

This shows that he has no concern for the dogs at all, but rather is just trying to make money off them. It is the definition of a puppy mill.

He’s trying to maximize how much money he can make from them before they die of exhaustion from having so many puppies before they were even full grown themselves.

And he’s so desperate for money that he will not even hesitate to sell puppies when they’re six or seven weeks old. (Illegal)

It’s very sad. It’s unethical. It’s animal cruelty. And it’s illegal.

Someone should go over there and kidnap those poor dogs to give them a quality life before they die at his hands.

Let me know if anyone knows of a pet Detective, like Jim Carrey we can hire.

Let’s get this guy shut down before he ruins, more peoples lives, dogs lives, and especially more puppy’s lives.

I agree with everything you observed and have said about this breeder. I noticed the exact same things and am disgusted with how he treats his dogs, who are so obviously used just to make him as much money as possible. I really hope people can see him for what he is before buying any puppy from him and he gets shut down.

Letter From State Department Regarding This Matter.

Attached is a photo of the letter from the FL Dept of Agriculture and Consumer Services mentioned from the above review and reply

I purchased a puppy from Longwood Lakes AKC Miniature Standard, Dappled & Piebald Dachshunds in Longwood FL. The breeder, Don Schwendemann, sold me a sick 7 week old puppy. (It is illegal to sell puppies under the age of 8 weeks in the state of FL). He also did not provide a veterinary certified health certificate as required by law. He told me that he would provide a 2 year health guarantee for my puppy but he never went over the details of the guarantee in any of our communications. Days after the sale, after he had already been notified of the puppies disease and after asking for his health guarantee several times, he typed an email with his conditons for the guarantee. However, it was not in contract form nor agreed upon and signed before the sale of the puppy, thus making it invalid.

I took the puppy to the vet a day and half after buying him (bought him on the weekend) due to vomiting as well as ear shaking and sores on ears and nose and chin. The puppy was diagnosed with a rare but deadly disease called Puppy Strangles which requires extensive treatment. As Florida law states, the buyer has 3 options in this situation.

Return the puppy for a full refund, return the puppy and exchange it for another or, the breeder is responsible for paying the vet bills for the illness or disease up to the purchase price of the puppy. I have fallen in love with the puppy and would never return him to someone who has such unethical practices so I chose the third option of seeking money to cover the vet bills. The breeder refuses to pay the veterinary bills or give me a refund as required by law.

This does not surprise me one bit. I know this person and he IS a liar. I know he does not get veterinary care for any of the puppies or the moms. I pray you will have a positive outcome. May God bless you for loving and caring for this puppy.

You should verify things to be factual prior to putting them in print. The way you are currently formatted your putting information out there that you have no idea as to whether or not the information is factual or not which as our attorney will be explaining to you sometime in the near future is grounds for defamation of character. Sure, you can have complaintents sign that everything they say is true to the best of their knowledge but rest assured some of the liability of those wrongdoings will ultimately come on you once the attorney has helped the jurors with painting them an accurate picture.I on the other hand have proof in the form of a letter from The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services who this individual wrote all of this complete bs and also filed a complaint with them. The letter states that the case has been closed as the only wrongdoing was on the part of the individual who filed the complaint. When she filed her complaint she conveniently left out some key information such as the fact that when she contacted me two days after getting the puppy and told us about this bogus life threatening skin condition the puppy had my response was that we would be happy to give her a full refund and take the puppy back. She refused because she stated that she had already developed a life bond with him over the course of 36 hours but she instead demanded that we pay her vet bills. I responded by stating that we would have to get a second opinion from an AKC approved vet which she didn't like hearing. For all we know this so called vet she went to could have his practice hurting for business since covid, like so many other business owners and came up with this Strangles skin condition just to provide treatment and a fat invoice. It's also worth mentioning that upon bringing the puppy and going over the puppies AKC paperwork I informed her that upon registering the puppy with the AKC as her the owner the puppy would immediately recieve two months of free health insurance as well as one free vet visit by an AKC approved vet. I bring this perk to clients attention so they can coordinate the puppies vaccinations around the same time thus saving them money. However this individual didn't seem to inclined to be concerned with any costs. Personally, I would never accept an unhealthy puppy for the simple fact that I wouldn't be in acceptence of all of the future vet bills associated with it. I'd merely get my money back and find a new best friend. This individual spent time with the puppy outside in the sunlight and didn't make any mention about sores or anything else for that matter. She thought he was perfect. As for the alleged sores, only God knows as we do that puppy didn't have a single blemish on it. It was healthy as a horse as were his 9 siblings and their parents. Just to give you a better idea as to this individuals character she went on ranting and raving extensively to the FL Dept she filed a complaint with even providing them with text we exchanged where I mentioned how we have sold puppies less than 8 weeks old and taken them from their mama. She repeatedly made comments about what a horrible act that was and how terrible and illegal it is to do and yet she welcomed the puppy we sold her with open arms when she knew he was only 7 weeks old. That in itself speaks volumes about her character. There are two sides to every story and in my life experiences I've come to find that the truth usually lies somewhere in the middle. In this case however it's merely a situation whereby an individual got angry because she didn't get her way or have her demands met and in doing so got mad, fabricated quite a few bold face lies, conveniently left out key information, and ultimately allowed her emotions to interfere with her decisions. If the people who run your scammer organization were in fact competent and responsible employees, they would have taken the time to find out the validity of these claims prior to just printing them. Imagine if you would that your neighbor has a personal beef with you and in doing so writes a review on you and your business claiming that you are a child molester among other things. Does that make it so. Do you think it would be right to have those defamations out there about you even though they are untrue. So why then do you have no quams about doing [censored] like that to other people or businesses? We've been business owners of a total of 4 companies over the past 35+ years and we have been successful because the same business ethics carried over into each one of them. It's the same one we have in every facet of our lives. That being that we treat people in the same manner in which we expect to be treated. You should have begun your research by going through our website thoroughly. If you had, you would have seen in upwards of a dozen reviews (all of them 5 stars) all consistent in their descriptions of us as breeders and all on the opposite end of the spectrum from this individual. Personally I think twelve peoples opinions are a bit more credible than one angry distraught individuals. You also would have taken the time to do the necessary research to see how many times in the past there have been complaints filed against us. If you had you would have learned there are no others. And yet you want to headline us as puppy scammers. Personally I think this could potentially prove to be a bad decision and come back to bite you in the [censored] at some point. Just a thought. I've been breeding various breeds of dogs since 1988 and out of the hundreds of puppies I've brought into this world, not a single one was ever unhealthy. A few stillborns but that's it. So certainly you can then understand how one would be a bit skeptical about allegations of rare diseases, etc. BTW, another thing worthy of mentioning...when The FL Dept of Agriculture and Consumer Services approached me with this complaint they also included a copy of the vet bill. On it were costs incured for nail trimming, shampoos and conditioners, and about a months worth of puppy foods and treats. I'm assuming those were all things necessary as well to help combat and cure the rare Puppy Strangles disease. A disease mind you that in the 35+ years of my breeding I have never heard of. Probably because it's so rare. I took the liberty of contacting all five of the breeders that our breeders were bought from as puppies and not only had none of them heard of the notorious and deadly puppy strangle disease, but they also assured me that none of the dogs in our breeders bloodlines had ever been diagnosed with it which is ironic given the fact that it's supposedly inherited. Ultimately, when you cut through all of the bs it's like this...Only God knows as we do What's true to our hearts along with whats fact from fiction. Be that as it may we are confident putting it in His hands as we do with most things in our lives. Knowing that in both our hearts and minds helps serve as a shield of armor of sorts against the garbage you put on your site.
