- Jamaica, NY, USA

A white Mercedes SUV stopped me on the road. The guy asked for some money to help buy plane tickets to finish a sale and showed me his family in the back. Reluctantly, I asked for proof of who he was and was told he was a wealthy man from Dubai who lost his wallet at the nearby airport, which was plausible since the airport was less than a 5 minute drive away. He showed me a number of pictures of him with his cars, money and his family in luxury as well as a picture of his UAE drivers license which he told me to take a picture of if I didn't believe him. He continued to ask for money and offered his jewelry and a promise to repay. I asked for further proof and we ended up at two separate pawn shops to check the authenticity of one of the items he was offering as a deposit in return for my money. Both pawn shops claimed the watch was real after testing the gold and even taking the watch apart. It was at this point I finally gave in and forfeited the money. He gave me his phone number, called to exchange numbers and drove off. The main scammer was a tall man over 5"11 who looked and spoke Arabic, with a fairly long black/brown beard with a decent amount of grey hairs, wore gold framed glasses. He brought with him is son and two other men.
