My neighbors sister-in-law has lost all of her savings (over $150K) and is now sending her scammer cash only. This has been going on for almost 2 years. She believes the scammer and refuses any advice from her one living family member, the bank, neighbors, or police. She is in her 80’s and has no family left except my neighbor who was married to her brother…which he has passed away a long time ago. All help we have tried has not been successful. Now she is living month to month and runs out of food, has had her power and water turned off only to have her neighbor have it turned back on. Yet she is sending this scammer cash only now. We don’t know what else to do if she won’t allow it to stop. But she’s not in her right mind. This scammer should be charged with attempted murder as far as I’m concerned bc he has taken everything this lady saved all her life and is still after what he can get in cash only each month. I’m so tired of it and this man could be caught. My neighbor has his so called name and phone number. Is there anything we can do to stop this criminal from this elder abuse? Please help her and help us to catch this nasty scammer. Also, she has another man calling her now. We think he is the same person though. We believe he talks to her like a romance scammer although she thinks she’s getting $5 million dollars from winning a lottery and it started out she was sending money to the scammer who identified himself as a government official who needed tax money sent on her winnings before he could deliver the winnings to her. She’s so confused and it’s killing me to stand by and not be able to get her help. It’s a crime!! She is in the process of signing her home over to him now. This should be stopped asap before he’s not able to be caught.
