Type of a scam Sweepstakes/Lottery/Prizes
The text claimed to be from recent lottery winners Cliff & Tammy Webster, who were giving away money from their lottery winnings via entering people into a drawing if you text Creel Simon at (205)494-7525, a “winnings code” provided in the text. The other numbers in the group text were:
(828)747-7323
(828)610-3201
I’m not familiar with these numbers but they are from the same area code, so I imagine they’re just group texting people by area code because it’s faster/easier than individual texts.
It was obvious to me this was a scam which is why I reported it. I didn’t text back or interact in any way.
