Received a message for a remote position with Tomberlain Insurance. Answered some questions online.. then received a message to contact Marlene Hing.. my new Supervisor. Website looks legit but I googled the supervisor Marlene Hing and saw it as a Scam. Job was posted on Indeed. Oct 2022

I applied to a remote clerical assistant job for a company called Louise Cote, that was posted on indeed.com. A few days later, I got a text message about the job. They told me to go to this website to do an online interview. It was basically a website that asked some questions and you typed your answers in. The next day, the same number texted me and said that I got the job and to use Skype to contact my new supervisor by the name of Marlena Hing. But they said everything had to be in writing for documentation purposes, so just message her on Skype, which I did. She went over what my task would be and all of that, trying to make it seem real. Then she said that I would need to go buy all this equipment to do the work, which they will pay for. She said she’ll send me a check and that it had to be put into my bank account, I wasn’t allowed to cash it. So I received the check and I was very suspicious. So I took it to a check cashing place, and they told me immediately that the check was fake! I messaged “Marlena” and told her what happened and she immediately blocked me.

This person uses real companies as a guise. Very old school scam. When something seems too good be true it usually is.
