I was trying to purchase a car they had for sale. They told me they were a mechanic and had a dealers license. After purchasing a vehicle I have yet to receive said vehicle and have not received my money back either. The owner of the business ignores my calls and refuses to pay me back. He has scammed me and stolen my money.

My first contact with JohnRos Fitzgerald Nugent was in early march. I believe the 2nd or 3rd.( refered to as John from here on out). I reached out to him via the app OfferUp used for buying and selling items. (I intended to provide a transcript of the conversation but it was deleted )I originally intended to purchase a 2007 Honda civic he had posted for sale under the account name “Yan” which he claimed was his wife’s name and that the account belonged to her. He originally had the vehicle posted for $4’700. I met him on the 4th of march and I was set to purchase this vehicle. I placed a $50 deposit down so he could hold the vehicle. (Screenshot of receipt provided)but because I was unable to get insurance coverage on the vehicle because it was too old. I called him on the 6th of march and informed him I wouldn’t be moving forward with my purchase. Shortly afterwards I asked him if he would have another vehicle I could purchase and he informed me that he had a dealers license and an auction license and so he would be able to get me a car from an auction and fix any issues he had then sell it to me. He then requested another deposit so he could purchase the vehicle. I then sent him $1500 through Zelle on Marc 6th ( a dollar was sent first as a test then the rest.) I then sent an additional $1000 on march 7th. And another $380 on march 9th. John mentioned it was something he had done multiple times before and that his wife’s current car was one he had obtained in this manner. After a process of selection in which he sent me different pictures of different vehicles we settled on a 2018 infinity Qx 50. For $3500 On march the 6th. I paid him an initial deposit through Zelle to the account Luxe hospitality llc ..he then told me he would be picking up the vehicle shortly. After several weeks of excuses ranging from not having the time , and not having a tow truck to go and pick up the vehicle he eventually informed me that when he went to pick up the vehicle it did not start and so after trying to start it via a variety of different methods he decided it wasn’t a good idea to purchase the vehicle so he suggested placing a bid on a different vehicle. After a similar process of selection we eventually settled on a 2015-2016 Mercedes cla 250. At this point I had given him money for what he said he needed to bid on the vehicles as well as for the parts for the infinity. We eventually decided on a bid of $7316 for the Mercedes. (The rest of the $7316 was paid through cash. )After several days of waiting he informed me that the bid was not accepted and we did not get the vehicle. He once more suggested going through the process of looking for vehicles via pictures he sent me and asked me to select the one I wanted. After I selected a few bmw’s out of the list he provided he then brought up the fact that he had a bmw he was working on and had been fixing for a while that he would fix and give to me if I wanted. He mentioned that most of the money I had already given him ($7316) would be put towards this bmw and the vehicle and the rest would go to the parts needed for repair. The vehicle would be around ($6700). I then agreed and asked what he needed and how long it would take to which he mentioned he already knew what was needed since he had been working on it previously and he would be able to get it fixed within a couple weeks. This like most of what John says turned out to be a gross misrepresentation of the truth. He first claimed he was delayed a few weeks because he was unable to buy the parts he needed because I refused to send him any more money. He told me he was waiting on the check to come back from the auction with the $7316 I had payed towards the Mercedes. He then proceeded to spin me and give me various excuses every time I asked why the car wasn’t ready and why the deadline he gave me always seemed to be wrong. I eventually grew fed up of the delays and excuses. Nearly 3 months later after i originally contacted John in march After I had payed him money to purchase and fix a vehicle for me I still had no vehicle, and I hadn’t even laid eyes on it at this point besides a few pictures he sent me. I told John that he was severely inconvincing me as he had taken my money so I was unable to by a new car yet I don’t have a vehicle either. John assured me he was working as fast as possible and offers to send me money for Uber while he worked in the car. He promised to send $150 but only sent $130. This wasn’t enough for a weeks worth of transportation so the following week I reached out requesting him to quickly finish working in the car. this is when he said he had a few rental vehicles and he could give me one to use in the meantime. He then gave me an address to go to where I was instructed to pick up a dodge carava on may 6th. I used this car in expectation that it would only be shorty but eventually I grew even more frustrated that my car was not ready. I then told John to give me back my money as he was not trustworthy and I believed him to either be a fraudster or a liar who was not able to do what he promised. At this point John gave various excuses as to why he was not able to pay me back immediately and that he would need time to gt my money back. This was followed by constant excuses every time I asked for my money. At this point it was clear to me John had no intention of paying my money back or fixing the vehicle for me. This was compounded by his constant avoidance of my communication attempts. I then told John he could give me ownership rights to the dodge caravan so I could sell it and make some of my money back and then he could pay me the rest. I met with John on …. To receive the transfer of ownership however after speaking with my brother he recommended that I do not do that and I should be repaid in the same manner I paid Johh, with cash. At this point I told john I did not want the vehicle anymore. ( a voice recording of this incident can be provided. John’s consent was giving before recording). After this incident john promised to get me my money quickly. Several days passed.Repeatedly I would have to call John multiple times before he would even respond to my messages. Other times he would not respond to my text messages for days . After some back and forth I grew fed up and Eventually on may 16th he sent me $700 promising to send the rest soon. I eventually was able to get john on a call on may 29th, which he promised he would have the car ready in a month. He stated he had a friend who he could take the car to for him to fix. Reluctantly and against my better judgment I agreed to give home more time. I immediately regretted this decision as the communication with john became even worse as he avoided me even more. The day his friend was supposed to have the vehicle read was 06/23/2023 however when I tried to reach John once again he was avoiding me. After several attempts to reach him he then told me his friend needed another day. As expected when the time came once again he mentioned he needed some more time. At this point I did not even expect any thing from him. It was clear John had no intention of paying me back and he was just going to continue to spin me. As such I reached out to the lake county sheriffs office and informed them of my intentions to file a police report in regards to the situation on June 26th. Several weeks later and John still has not contacted me except once in response to the delay to which he provided even more excuses.
