This was involving our time share at Vida Vacations and the PGA Mexican Open April 27-30, 2023. We are owners and the event was on our golf course. Yes, it sounded too good to be true. They wanted to rent 2 weeks of our unit for attendees and players of the event. First, my husband was told that we had to wire transfer of $5818 and it would go into Escrow. That would equal our maintenance cost for 2 weeks. Then he was told that the Mexican Government was taxing us on the amount of $44,000 that we would be receiving and that it had to be paid to them; not the US government. This is when my 'heals' said no but my husband assured me that it was safe and to trust him !! then, the last straw was when they said that we weren't registered with the Mexican Government and the Mexican SAT office was taxing us to open this registration. I knew that it was a scam and refused. They threated jail time, losing our time share, and they would take our house away from us if we didn't pay. As seniors, we try to be extremely careful. My husband works for a large private country club so the PGA attachment drew him in. It's been terribly stressful, phone calls of threats endless. We just don't want anyone else getting caught by these crooks. John Lesniak with Cincinnati Escrow has been terrible. Christopher Miller also works for Cincinnati.
