It initially started with an ad on Autotrader for a car that was from Florida. According to the scammer, she owns the car because of a divorce settlement and moved to Superior, WI. Everything seemed legitimate because the car had an auto report which matched everything the seller claimed on the site. She turned the car over to LV Equipment & Motors Logistics and let them handle the entire transaction. She needed my phone number and address which seemed fair because the website required that information from me, the buyer. We both enter into a contract with LV where I wire the money to the logistics company in exchange for the car being held at the place; it had an escrow service. When the car arrived, I would have five days to inspect the car and then decide whether I wanted to keep or return the car. I was in constant contact with both the seller and the logistics company up until I wired the money. I was given an ETA and a tracking number, but both the seller and the logistics company ghosted me days before the car was supposed to arrive at my address. I should have known that it was a scam because both my bank and the recipient bank warned me about this transaction, but I wanted to wait until the delivery date to see if it would actually happen. The delivery date has passed, the seller and logistics company are nowhere to be found, and I lost a bunch of money.
