I received a pop up message on my computer to call a number to fix error problems. I was frustrated and called the number and talked to a foreigner. He said he worked with a company called M Net and he was based in Canada right now but had been all over. He told me that my home computers were all infected with a virus called tinba and it was interfering with my computers performance. This man was very knowledgeable about computers. He remotely ran my computer by asking for my IP number. He showed me several errors on the computer and where programs have stopped. He encouraged me to purchase firewall protection and said he needed a one time tech fee also. He had several packages ranging from 599.00 -1249.00. For one year, three year, five year and lifetime protection with a tech fee of 249.00. I initially gave him my credit card #, phone # and address. When I went to pay him for the services he offered I was skeptical when he asked me to pay with check over the phone. Then he wanted me to confirm payment by an email he sent. I didn't open the email and I quickly got off of the phone. I did leave my computer on because he said that he was working on things on it. I called and cancelled my credit card but am afraid that other information was compromised.
