Type of a scam Rental
When my daughter asked if we could have a friend visit the place, Kelly said yes, but that it would not be able to be seen until the end of this week. We asked for an address so we could send it to our friend and view the property online. The address, as provided,did not exist. Our friend was given the same address.
In the meantime, we had already submitted the application (and provided paystubs and copies of mine and my daughters licences). We were then asked to send money to their routing number for their account before seeing the apartment. Before doing this, my husband called the number provided and got a pre-recorded message stating the number had been disconnect. When we checked with Kelly, she stated the number was accurate.
Our friend visited what he thought was the address and it was a store. An apartment building was next door but it was well over the 5 stories we were informed of. In addition, the contact number for the rentals within the apartment building was not the same as was provided to us.
As we began to ask more questions, we got less responses. I believe this was a scam and hope the information we already submitted does not lead to issues of identity theft.
