I too called about a puppy. One of the first things I was told, via text, is that I could have the puppy the next day. Any responsible breeder wants to know about the recipient before making that promise. I asked for a video - crickets. I came back to them a week or so later and asked for a video - I finally got a 4-second video which wasn't sufficient. I asked again - it didn't come through. I then got this guy Matthew on the phone - foreign accent. I asked why the company was named "Marilyn" and he said it was his daughter's company. Once again - no interest in who I was or what my capacity was for caring for a puppy - simply wanted to get me the puppy the next day. I was very suspicious, and never called back. It's a scam.

We contacted Marilynbassethounds after searching the internet for a Basset puppy. Our 11-year old Basset died Nov. 27, 2020. The website shows puppies, all 12 weeks old, each with a name. You are asked to inquire about any puppy you are interested in. We did, and after frequent texting and phone calls with a person with a foreign accent identified as Matthew, phone # (405-521-2401 which is a San Rafael CA number) reached an agreement to buy a puppy for $800 plus $150 for air shipment and delivery of puppy to our home in Virginia. Marilyn Bassets would not accept Paypal or credit card payment, only Zelle. We were to use the name and phone number that was texted to us. The phone number area code (843 496 7785) is not a California code. The recipient's name for the Zelle transfer was Matthew Holtzclaw. On Sunday we sent $950 from our bank, using Zelle. We received a bill of sale by e-mail, with large red PAID stamps. The bill of sale showed the purchase price and described the puppy's medical treatment, and noted that she would have a microchip. We also received a tracking number (JESQM19288) for the shipment, which was to arrive at 10:30 am Nov. 30, the next day. Later that day, the 29th, we received a call from Matthew that there would be a new text message coming. We received a phone call and a text message. These came from Air-Animal Pet Relocation, Inc. The phone # was (407) 602-8389, in Geneva Florida. I was told by someone with a strong foreign accent that because of weather and Covid-19, a special temperature controlled crate would be required to ship the puppy. It would cost $1,500, 98% of which would be refunded on delivery. There was also a $2,500 crate for extra special care. The text message (from a Smith Wester, Branch Manager of Air-Animal Relocation) contained links to the two crates. Payment options listed in the text were Zelle, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Western Union, Moneygram, and Walmart. Again, no Paypal or credit card option. Air-Animal Pet Relocation, Inc., is a somewhat different name than the website link we were given by Matthew which is http:/air-animal-inc.com/. It is an active website. At that point I texted Matthew that this was now becoming a scam and feared I had simply lost $950 sent to someone I don't know in California. He wrote back that he could vouch for Air-Animal as one of the best. I wrote back that to show us this is legitimate, please refund the $950. No answer. Wrote again today asking for a refund (Nov. 30, 2020)
